ut it's not just THE Ecuadorian language.

The dominant language of the República del Ecuador is Castellano, commonly called Spanish.

Kechwa or Quichua as it's called in the Ecuadorian dialect (which is limited to three vowel phonemes: a, i, u).

There are a number of extant, tho threatened, indigenous languages in the Oriente jungles of the Amazon basin.

The most common is Shuar, formerly called Jíbaro, which means « savage ».

Quichua is officially the language of the Incas and was spread throughout the Tawantinsuyu (Empire of the Four Quarters) by their armies and settlements.

There is scant literature extant from the pre-Conquest, transcribed from oral tradition.

Indigenous Movements of the 20th C have produced more. It is definitely worth studying.
