Aprann Medikaman, Pa Aprann Mechancente.

coordination with the Transitional Government of Haiti, The United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) conducted a joint operation with the Haitian National Police in the Bel Air area today.

Approximately 200 uniformed forces from the Brazilian Brigade, CIVPOL and the HNP entered a small neighborhood within Bel Air called Cameroon, a spot previously identified as a hideout for gang members.

The two-hour raid which began at 5:30 a.m. ended with the arrests of 90 people, three of which were gang leaders.

No injuries were reported.

Following the operation, engineers from the Brazilian Brigade launched a clean-up project to help set the framework improvements in the area and establish a new security base in the area.

The joint-operating base will provide a permanent presence of police and MINUSTAH forces to enhance security measures and deter against future gang activity.
