Bishop Burbidge, Reverend Clergy and Religious, Dr. Fedewa, Members of the Board of Trustees,
Faculty and Staff, Families, and the class of 2015, thank you for joining us tonight to celebrate all
that we have been given and experienced as a class together.
Four years ago, we embarked on a journey together.
We were awkward, immature, unsure of
ourselves, and blind to what the future held. We had no idea what high school would be like. Were
we going to make friends?
Were we going to like our teachers?
Were we going to find our voices?
or
become leaders?
Whatever the experience was...
it was unknown, and we were all excited to
DISCOVER it together.
Maybe we had had older sibling already at Gibbons, been on campus a few
times for a sporting event or a play, or simply just heard things about the school that was going to
be our home for the next four years, but to be honest...
we had no idea what we were getting
ourselves into....
It was a whirlwind of spirit and enthusiasm, a place where people actually wanted to see us succeed,
a place where learning was somehow second nature and happening all around us, a place that turned
us into state champions, scholars, artists, and individuals.
Gibbons nurtured us, molded us into the
people we didn't think we were capable of being.
But it wasn't the place itself that did all of that...
It
was the moments and special people that touched our hearts and lit a flame within us. It was our
friends, our teachers, our families, and our faith that filled the halls and our daily lives with joy,
making Gibbons more than just a school...
something we wanted to be a part of.
We are grateful for the friendships that grew from lunch in the cafeteria, grateful for the friends that
told us it's ok to be unique, the friends that blow up our phones with links to funny videos.
You're
the friends that refused to give up on us...
you're the friends that carried us across bridges we
couldn't cross alone, and that taught us it was ok to make mistakes as long as we learned from them.
We are grateful for our teachers, and the faculty and staff that guided us for the past four years.
You
are the ones that inspired us to be curious, the ones that made learning enjoyable.
You're the ones
that made us WANT to find the answer, the ones that brought life to calculus equations, turned
English classrooms into theatres, taught us how to tell a story through dance, and the mentors that
helped us discover our passions.
You helped us tear down the boundaries we had fearfully built
around ourselves and encouraged us to take to take the first step, even when we couldn't see the
whole staircase.
Thank you for reading our sometimes-awful papers, for grading our less-than-
perfect math tests, and for always answering our seemingly endless questions.
Most of all, thank you
for believing in us, even when we did not believe in ourselves.
It is your example of compassion and
selfless dedication that will forever leave an imprint on our minds and our hearts.
We are grateful for our families and loved ones, those of you who carried us through the last four
years, and voluntarily put up with us for our entire lives.
We are thankful for our parents who
followed us around with c
