Watch the Maximsnew Work Haiti Elections And Demonstrations Un Minustah video, MaximsNewsNetwork 29 November 2010 -- UN MINUSTAH Port-au-Prince, Haiti -- Demonstrations broke out Sunday 28 Nov in Port au Prince and other parts of the country over suspicion of fraud in Haiti's presidential and parliamentary elections at an afternoon press conference at the Karibe Hotel, twelve of the 18 opposition candidates called for the election to be cancelled and hundreds of supporters took to the streets of Port of Prince in support. Among the crowd was singer Wyclef Jean, who showed support to opposition candidate Michel Martelly, also a former singer nicknamed Sweet Mickey. Among the complaints, opponents had accused the ruling party of forcing the installation of supervisors for voting centers. Earlier, at the Carradeux IDP Internally Displaced People camp the situation had become tense, as many voters were complaining because they could not find their names on the voters list. Election results are expected on 7 December. If there is no presidential candidate with the majority of votes, a run-off election will be scheduled for January 16.
